Edmonton, AB - A trio of Edmonton Oil Kings future and present will be able to showcase their talent on an international stage this Christmas season. Congratulations go out to 15 year old Michael St. Croix of Winnipeg, Manitoba and 16 year old Dylan Wruck from Saskatoon who were both selected to Team Western for the upcoming Under 17 World Hockey Challenge set for Port Alberni, BC and across Vancouver Island from December 29th to January 4th. Oil Kings defenseman Mark Pysyk was awarded the same honor when he was named to Team Pacific a few days later.

Busy Weekend Ends In A Loss

Lethbridge, AB - The Edmonton Oil Kings could not shake off the bus legs fast enough. They let the Lethbridge Hurricanes jump out to a daunting 3 nothing lead after 20 minutes of play and fought back the best they could - literally. Lethbridge held on for a 5 - 3 win and the Oil Kings are now winless in 5 after a difficult 3 game in 3 night stretch that saw them play in 3 different cities. Carter Ashton scored the hat trick for Lethbridge while Colton Sceviour finished with a 4 point night as the Hurricanes snap out of 6 game winless skid of their own.

Cranbrook, B.C. - The Edmonton Oil Kings offense got suddenly cold in a Saturday night game against the Kootenay Ice. The Oil Kings suffered their third straight loss after dropping a 5 nothing decision to the Ice in Cranbrook. Dustin Sylvester and Kevin King each scored a pair of goals in a game the Ice broke open with a pair of powerplay markers late in the second period. The win Kootenay avenges the loss the last time these two teams met when the Oil Kings shut out the Ice 4 - 0 at Rexall Place a few weeks ago.

Misfire In Another Shootout

Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Oil Kings will have to wait for the their first ever regulation win over the Medicine Hat Tigers. Edmonton native Tyler Ennis scored a late powerplay goal and followed up with another goal in the shootout as the Tigers escaped Rexall Place with a 3 - 2 win over the Oil Kings. That’s back to back shootout victories for Medicine Hat in the home and home series and Edmonton is 0-8-1-3 lifetime against their arch rivals.
